Run Smart

  • 30 Years, 30 Boston Marathons: Eleanor You’re a Rockstar!

    Coaches Notes:

Eleanor came to me last year with a severe limp and pain in her glutes and hamstrings.

We had just a few months until her 29th Boston marathon and we had to get her through so she could keep her running streak going.

After a video analysis we got right to work on making changes.

#1- correct her running biomechanics from an efficiency standpoint. We shifted her from being a very upright stiff runner, to falling forward and being more supple, fluid and efficient.

    #2 – Strength and mobility
Get strong and flexible from big toes to her head and neck. Her legs were not equally strong- so physical therapy, a PRP shot (always the best option rather than cortisone) and individual leg and core strength helped her recover quickly and stop limping!

    #3 – Ditch the Hokas!
Switching her running shoes from high cushion, high stack shoes that cause over striding, heel striking and over stretching the hamstring.
We switched to zero drop Altra Escalantes which have minimal cushion as well as Xero minimalist running shoes.

We even got her running barefoot pre and post track sessions!

We got her across the finish line but #30 Boston in 2025 was going to be a redemption race.

Spent the whole year building up.

Hitting several 1st place Age Group Wins at a few Ft. Lauderdale A1A 13.1’s 1:44-2nd place!

So we were ready for Boston and decided to do a long run
Saturday and the Key Biscayne 13.1 – 1:46 1st place.
Sunday although the 13.1 went well and she placed 1st again. It turned out to cost us a fast Boston!!

Another tweak to the Glute / hamstring

As well as not pacing slow enough in the first half of Boston
Eleanor ended up with some pain but still finished in 4:15 for Boston
    Her 30th straight Run!!

Congratulations Eleanor, not every race is a PR but I do believe you have made some incredible break through in your running and I’m honored to have worked with you on this journey!

Let’s rest your marathon legs and do some triathlons!!

    Meet Eleanor, 53-Year-Old Family COO

Why did you choose FCC to help you on your triathlon/health and wellness journey?

Erinne’s knowledge about running technique and her own experience as an athlete made me want to work with her.

What is your “A” race for this season?

    Boston

    What are your BIG goals?

My BIG goal is to run Boston at a pace that is competitive in my age group. My goal goal is to finish Boston. And my other goal is to keep running at all. I want to keep finding ways to address, combat, and overcome my injuries.

What were some of your biggest improvements in performance for each of the following? Swim, Bike, Run, and Nutrition/Health. Please include any Personal Records and Goals achieved.

My biggest accomplishment has been to finish my 30th consecutive Boston Marathon this past April. I started running Boston when I was 23 years old and lived in Boston and ran with the BAA track team. I ran it for the first time in 1996, which was the 100th running of the Boston Marathon. Our BAA team was considered “local elite” and we got to start right behind the professional women. As we waited for the start, the mayor called out the names of everyone who’d run the event 20 years in row and also those at 30 in a row. I told myself right then that I wanted to do it 20 years in a row. I hit 20 in 2016 and felt pretty good, so I’ve kept going. I developed repetitive stress injuries in 2018, so it’s gotten tougher to run fast but Erinne has helped me a lot.

Name 2 or 3 things that have made the biggest difference in your journey

Changing my running form and my shoes.

What excites you the most about being involved in triathlon?

I’d love to try triathlon someday. I’ve been working on swimming for cross training – and I’d like to get my biking to a more athletic, endurance level.

What would you say to another person who was on the fence about joining our training program?

Full Circle is well-rounded, technical program. Coaching from someone who knows the physiology and the patterns of movement makes a tremendous difference.
And the schedule of workouts offers a great balance – one that I think will help make you a fitter athlete all around.

Whether you’re dreaming of crossing the finish line at your next 13.1 or dialing in your nutrition for better energy and recovery—we’ve got the tools to help you get there.

The Run Essentials Program will help you improve your technique, gain speed, and prevent injury through personalized video analysis, expert coaching, and a supportive community.

Eleanor did and look where she is now. Imagine what’s possible for YOU.

  • Rockstar Henry Martinez

    Coaches Notes:

Henry contacted me in December to prepare for his comeback race in March, after quite a few years off of training and racing and his fitness was low.

We started with evaluations, stretching and strength. Because fitness was low we started with strength, mobility and skill development. Taught Henry how to use his Garmin watch bike computer to track and evaluate his training. And he showed up for all the group zoom calls and asked awesome questions to make sure he understood the workouts and nutrition I was suggesting.

It was not a straight line to success as plantar fascistic popped up, but training kept going with modifications to elliptical to keep his fitness up to achieve the goal of the long sprint.

At the last minute Henry decided to join us as Ultimate Tri Camp and what a wise decision that was- his up level in just 4 days was awesome and he came home to recover for the week and race the next Sunday.

Look what happened!- Podium- 1st place in his age group! woohoo!

Way to go Henry so super proud of you and your ac compliments over the last 4 months. You are a great example of what’s possible if you simply show up with an open heart and mind. You are a true Rockstar Triathlete……. Again!

Full Circle has a great reputation, I had previously met Erinne and worked with her in private for swim development. Erinne is experienced and has in depth knowledge of varying areas.

What is your “A” race for this season?

Tri-Miami on 3/2/25 after over 6 years off of training.

    What are your BIG goals?

Improve overall health. Better nutrition, focused exercise program, and habit modification.

Understanding supplements and benefits and using technology in training and for feedback.

What were some of your biggest improvements in performance for each of the following? Swim, Bike, Run, and Nutrition/Health. Please include any Personal Records and Goals achieved.

Understanding and improvement in technique for each discipline, especially swimming and biking.

Improved focus on nutrition, what to eat and not to eat, and integrating some supplements, i.e., Amino Acids.

I achieved my goal of completing a Triathlon to celebrate my 65th birthday and returning from a 6+ year hiatus.

Struggling to lose weight, the program helped me lose that extra 5% that I had been unable to lose and drop below a threshold of 200 lbs, which I had not seen in over a decade.

Name 2 or 3 things that have made the biggest difference in your journey

Coach Erinne’s knowledge, coaching, and motivation for one.

Being around disciplined and inspired athletes who are equally motivated, struggling with challenges, and supportive of each other.

  • Rockstar Peter Jackson

    Coaches Notes:

Peter was referred to me from my client who lives in the Bahamas and trains with me.

He has had chronic Achilles tendinitis but still had the goal of a 1:30 13.1 run.

Since he lives in the Bahamas, we never met in person but virtually for his strength and mobility assessment and his run video analysis.

From here, I gave him the strength and mobility necessary to strengthen his feet and core, manage and reduce his Achilles tendinitis in both ankles, and keep him running faster.

We hit a PR of 1:32 in mid November at the Bahamas 13.1 and we acheived the 1:30 13.1 goal at the Lifetime 13.1 in Miami despite the heat and humidity!

Congratulations Peter- You are a Rockstar Runner. Thanks for choosing Full Circle Coaching and my Running Essentials program to help you reach your dream goal time! Can’t wait to see what challenge you take on next!

    Meet Peter, 35-Year-Old Logistics professional

Why did you choose FCC to help you on your triathlon/health and wellness journey?

Trained myself for my first Marathon in April 2024, and whilst I was happy with the time, I suffered a couple of injuries along the journey
(hamstring pull + achilles tendonitis). I wanted to achieve a 1:30 half and train in a more sustainable way (injury free), whilst managing achilleas tendonitis.

What is your “A” race for this season?

    Miami Half Marathon, 2025

    What are your BIG goals?

I need to think about my next challenge this year, maybe triathlon or trail running

What were some of your biggest improvements in performance for each of the following? Swim, Bike, Run, and Nutrition/Health. Please include any Personal Records and Goals achieved.

    Half marathon:
Started running half marathons in 2022
    2022 I averaged a 7:51 minute/ mile pace
    2023 7:30 Minute/ Mile Pace.

Then in October, 2024 I started working with Full Circle Coaching remotely, as I live in the Bahamas.

Coach Erinne did a virtual video evaluation of both my running technique as well as my strength and mobility from toes to head. I followed her program and we checked in withc coach calls to see how my achilles were doing and any questions I had about the training.

THe result was a new faster 13.1 at the Bahamas half marathon in December running a 7:07 average minute/ mile.

Then a new PR at the Lifetime Miami 13.1 in January- finally hitting my goal of a 1:30 13.1 with an average of 6:52 minute/ mile!

Name 2 or 3 things that have made the biggest difference in your journey

    Intervals, stretching and foot strength

What would you say to another person who was on the fence about joining our training program?

If you have a time goal and stick to the program, you can achieve it injury free just like I did!

Want to Run Faster—Without the Injuries?
Peter achieved his PR and finally crushed his 1:30 goal with our Run Essentials Program, all while managing Achilles tendonitis and training remotely from the Bahamas.

  • Ironman Success Story: How Kim Crushed Her First Full Ironman

    Coaches Notes:

Kim and I go way back but had not trained together for a few years. In the years apart, she had a bike crash, shoulder injury, and developed some Achilles issues.

She wanted to do her 1st Ironman and decided to join my group training for Ironman California.

We decided to start with swim technique, and she took my Swim Essentials Program. In it, we identified why her shoulder was hurting and worked to strengthen her upper body and improve her posture so that she would be able to handle the increased volume of full Ironman training. She joined my group Ironman Long Course Training Plus Classes program.

Then it was all about consistency of increasing volume on the swim, bike and run while managing achilles tenderness with run specific strength training. , and run while managing Achilles tenderness.

I’m super proud to say that Kim had a fantastic race! 13:25

Way to go, Kim, your consistency in training and hitting the long rides with Coach Dennis paid off!

    41-Year-Old PE Teacher and Triathlete

  • Rockstar Hilda Lopez

    Coaches Notes:

Hilda came to me with a big, no a HUGE Dream! To Complete a 6-mile open ocean swim called El Cruce. It entails swimming from Cancun to Isla Mujeres, Mexico.

We started training last April in 2024, and we had our first swim video analysis. Hilda had a hard time swimming freestyle for a single 25 yards! I was not worried because I know what is possible when you put in the work, and that is exactly what she has done.

The improvements have been truly spectacular in less than a year. In practice now, she consistently swims sub 2 minutes/ 100 yards, and she just completed her first open-water swim at Swim for Nick—4200 meters in very rough conditions.

As part of her journey, she also completed the Lifetime Miami 13.1 with other team members and her family with my Running Essentials Program and joined my Nutrition Essentials Program.

She has lost 13 lbs. and feels energized and strong from healing her gut, eliminating toxins, and improving digestion and nutrition.

Hilda, I know we have not completed the Dream yet, but I could not help but shout from the rooftops about all of your amazing successes. You are a true inspiration to all that anything is possible when you put in the work and follow the instructions! You are a true Rockstar Runner and Swimmer—maybe a Triathlon will be next?

I also wanted to get in better shape regarding my nutrition and lifestyle so I joined Erinne’s Nutrition Essentials Program. I did not knwo what is did not know. I have lost 13 lbs. I’m so happy!

Name 2 or 3 things that have made the biggest difference in your journey

    1- The coaches

  • Nico Rockstar

    Coaches Notes:

Coach Nico approached me looking for help with his first 70.3 back in 2021. As a member of my Triathlon Obsessed Facebook group, he had a great race (5:36:09) by implementing suggestions from the group and not being coached by me!

I was looking for an assistant coach, and Nico’s background and life journey in recovery from alcohol connected us. I have worked with many triathletes who have used the sport of triathlon for their recovery, and I believe it is an excellent tool.

Highly organized and a quick learner, he has been able to use the Full Circle Coaching tools to become a fantastic triathlete and coach for Full Circle.

I am so grateful to have you on the TEAM as a part of Full Circle Coaching. You practice what you preach, as do all of my coaches, and the results speak for themselves!

Super proud of your most recent PR of 5:31:24 at Ironman Florida 70.3. I am excited about what’s next with you and Full Circle Coaching! You are a true rockstar coach and Triathlete!

Meet Luis Nicola Aguilar a 43 year old Social Services Administrator

Why did you choose FCC to help you on your triathlon/health and wellness journey?

I wanted to become a coach and Erinne had most of the things I was looking for in terms of triathlon training, a holistic approach, and business model.

What is your “A” race for this season?

    Ironman 70.3 Florida, 2024

    What are your BIG goals?

Complete all World Major Marathons, complete a 70.3 in each continent, complete at least one full Ironman, cycle and run epic routes and trails around the planet, help many achieve their big goals inspiring and empowering them through my journey and tools that work!

What were some of your biggest improvements in performance for each of the following? Swim, Bike, Run, and Nutrition/Health. Please include any Personal Records and Goals achieved.

Swim – In the beginning of 2024 I could barely swim due to a rotator injury. My pool swims are back at 1:46 per 100 yards and I completed the swim portion of a challenging 70.3 swim course in 40 minutes.
Bike – My cycling power, cadence, and overall consistency is excellent; and I improved my form to give me more power for the run.
Run –  My run is very strong, especially considering that I am carrying more mass than in the past.

Nutrition – I have changed several of my supplements and race nutrients and continue to test and try what Erinne suggests and promotes.
All these combined allowed me to improve my 70.3 time by 5 minutes in a more challenging course than my previous 70.3.

Name 2 or 3 things that have made the biggest difference in your journey

The accountability and encouragement of the team and coaches.
Being observed by my co-workers and receiving feedback on form and other details that have helped improved my performance.
Maintaining a balanced approach: fatherhood, love life, family, work, training, nutrition, mental and spiritual health.

What excites you the most about being involved in triathlon?

Triathlon helps me create the discipline I need to stay healthy, happy, and energized. It helps me structure everything in my life and it sparks my creativity. It helps me connect to my body, the environment, other people, and the God of my understanding.

It really gives me a lot of joy in so many ways!!!

What would you say to another person who was on the fence about joining our training program?

Just do it! The best thing that can happen is that you will find a passion that will enhance your life significantly. The worst thing is that you will not like and now you can move on to other things… but you will still gain knowledge, experience and friends.

  • Rockstar Jac Schwartz

    Coaches Notes:

Coach Jac has been with me for over 4 years. Two years in Miami after she graduated from our Alma Mater, the University of Miami, and the master’s program in Exercise Physiology, and now virtually since she moved to Colorado 2 years ago.

She had been a triathlete for five years before starting with us and was part of the triathlon team at UM, but she had no concept of training the way we do it here at Full Circle Coaching.

I am incredibly proud of her journey from intern to coach with Full Circle Coaching over the past four years. She implemented the Full Circle Coaching training and nutrition and lifestyle programs to transform her life and health entirely and become an amazing coach and triathlete, helping me with program structure and being an assistant coach at Ultimate Tri Camp.

-Overcoming chronic foot and ankle pain with our strength and mobility protocols.
-Qualifying for Short Course Sprint Draft Legal World Championships.
    -Taking her 5k pr from 34:46 in 2019 to 22:28 in 2023!

    Qualify for Kona

What were some of your biggest improvements in performance for each of the following? Swim, Bike, Run, and Nutrition/Health. Please include any Personal Records and Goals achieved.

Swim- being a strong swimmer and having a down river swim for my A race, I can’t say that I trained swimming intensely or improved a lot this year. But! I do swim in colder open water a lot more than I used to and FC breathing techniques have been key to mastering the cold.

Bike- this is where I have the most room for improvement. Building confidence and comfort in the aero position.

Run- I’m most proud of how far my run has evolved. I am running in zero drop shoes and racing based on Heart Rate for specific workouts. More frequent running and stacking back to back days of running to increase volume rather than one long run helped me avoid injury for Ironman. (Living a mile high in Colorado and racing at sea level also helps ;))

Nutrition– a huge part of long course racing is fueling and that was one of my big focuses this year. General life nutrition as well as tracking carbs/hour intake during training and racing is the key to success and sustained energy! Also the supplements needed to balance out the unhealthy but necessary sports nutrition products.

Name 2 or 3 things that have made the biggest difference in your journey

Recovery! After swimming growing up and being in triathlon for 9 years I know how to workout and work hard. Ironman training is long hours and sacrificing time and convenience to insure you’re logging the necessary hours to endure the distance of the event. But recovery is also essential! I only learned that in the last couple years that every 3-4 weeks volume and intensity needs to decrease to allow your body to absorb the training. Watching my performance chart on Training Peaks to ensure that my form would rise and fatigue would fall around once a month made a huge difference and I showed up on race day with my highest “Form” in the last 365 days. It pays off to be patient and listen to your body.

Camaraderie- Although I live in Colorado now and am a remote member of the Full Circle Coaching Tribe, training for this race with other athletes was very motivating. I’ve found that non-athletic or non-competitive people in my life couldn’t really understand WHY this goal was so important for me to sacrifice other aspects of my life for. Or why it was so important to overcome obstacles along the way rather than just quitting. Having teammates to commiserate with made the process more enjoyable, the race course a friendly place, and the achievement sweeter.

What excites you the most about being involved in triathlon?

Triathlon achievements boost my sense of self-capability. Training is a place that I know I can put in the hard work to reach a goal. That reflects in other parts of life that I am not as confident in. If I can do an Ironman…it’s likely that I can do anything?!

What would you say to another person who was on the fence about joining our training program?

A triathlon, from sprint to Ironman distance, seems very daunting to complete. I remember being so nervous signing up for my first ever sprint race and feeling like I was throwing caution to the wind. I felt like that signing up for Ironman too.

Whenever I thought about the race I was so overwhelmed and questioned what I had gotten myself into “…and then I run a MARATHON…?”

Whenever I felt like that I told myself to stop and just focus on the next workout. I knew that the training program would be step by step, one day at a time, just check off the boxes.

And that by doing so all the pieces would string together and culminate in doing the seemingly impossible.

It doesn’t happen by accident, but consistency and commitment and the right support system can get you to whatever finish line you dream of!

  • Recover Quickly Post Race

    How to Recover Fast!

I have athletes that don’t fully understand the benefit of tapering for a race. They show up on race day feeling flat and tired and wonder why they don’t get that podium or personal best.

It’s definitely a skill to be able to tune into your body and feel if you are recovered from training or not. There are so many tools these days that you can track your training and use an APP to tell you if you should train hard or you need to recover. I use Garmin, HRV, TrainingPeaks to help my athletes gauge their level of fatigue but there is an inner knowing as well. I believe in just asking your body and you usually get the correct answer. But will your ego allow you to rest? That is the question. So, I say experiment with different amounts of easy/ recovery days after blocks of training days and find your own sweet spot. If you need to recover in a hurry these suggestions below work great!

Other things to consider about your recovery/ taper leading up to a race. Is it short course or long? Is it an A, B or C race? “A” priority races definitely require a bigger longer recovery leading into them , IF you want to have that peak performance. “C” races can be trained right through.

How many days you take is individual to you and your circumstance.
As a rule, the longer the race the longer the taper.

Ironman taper can be from 2-3 weeks,
    70.3 can be 7-14 days
Olympic distance 5-7 days and a
    Sprint 3-5 days.

Some athletes need more or less depending on age and experience level.

With all that being said, if you need to get recovered fast, here are my top recovery recomendations and tools.

Sleep: Did you see that article about how much sleep Roger Federer gets a day? 12 hours!

Studies show sleep is the absolute best, legal ergogenic aid out there. My minimum RX for fast recovery is 8 hours, but 9-10 would be better for 2-3 days minimum. You will feel like a kid again with tons of energy after you get this much sleep.

Do some Working IN (my definition of building energy instead of depleting it).
Examples of working in are taking a restorative yoga or Tai chi class. Don’t have that much time? take 10-20 minutes and walk barefoot or simply lay on the earth, on the grass or the sand on a beach. Get in the ocean, lake or even a pool and just float around (not training). Meditate. Practice silence and listen to nature.

Breath Work – 1,3,5 or 10 -20 minutes of just sitting or laying and breathing. If you type in ” Breath Work” into YouTube search there a ton of videos teaching you how to breath to improve energy. Try one. or check out Wim Hof – The Ice Man and follow his breathing techniques on Youtube.

Ice Bath- This can be uncomfortable but works sooooo well and is so worth it. As little as 2 minutes a few times a week combined with above breath work and meditation is like magic for resetting your nervous system and actually proving effectiveness against anxiety and depression! Even a 1 minute cold shower can stimulate the nervous system in a positive way. Check out my video here- on my Wim Hof Ice Bath Experience
(I am so excited to have just taken my first Wim Hoff Breath class and will be including his breath work and ice baths at my 2020 Ultimate Tri Camp! Check out the Video Here )

Massage – Getting a deep tissue massage every or every other week can really help your muscles stay supple and recover quickly.
Contact Jeff Lindsay, he’s an FC favorite!
    305-720-7920 / For a soothing or invigorating in-house massage.

Compression Socks – After a training session massage and an ice bath put on your compression wear for improved circulation and ultimately faster recovery.

Normatec or E Relax – or any other brand of segmented compression can improve circulation and help you recover quickly

Hyperice Hypervolt, Theragun Vibration Therapy or Marc Pro and Compex can all be helpful modalities to help your muscled recover quickly and of course there is good old fashion

  • Never ridden a bike? See how Yiming Finished her first Triathlon

    Coaches Notes:

I was super excited to help Yiming cross the finish line in her first triathlon and we only had 6 weeks!

I knew the Beginner Tri Program was the perfect tool to help.

We started with her biggest limiter – the Bike. She had never ridden a road bike before, and our first session was about safety, stopping and starting, turning, and riding on the road. This is SO overlooked when new cyclists start riding, and it is these life-saving skills that prevent accidents!

We fine tuned the swim and run with skills and drills.

2 Big lessons came during the sixth week in the form of overtraining and not eating enough to support her training.

At one bike session she was extremely exhausted and after finding out she was not eating before training. This is simply not sustainable as an endurance athlete. So we discussed pre- post nutrition strategies to help support the training with much better success.

Then, a few weeks in, I looked at her training peaks and saw her training MORE than I prescribed. Also a big mistake that can cause issues in the form of injury or sickness and sure enough. 2 weeks before Miami Man she got sick!

So we had to miss about 10 days of training which ended up being OK since we had gotten 4-5 solid weeks in before.

The result was a sucessful first Sprint Triathlon with a huge smile on her face.

Super proud of you Yiming! Love the new triathlon goals and can’t wait to see all the progress in 2025!
