UTC Rockstar Triathlete: Patricia Bello

UTC Rockstar Triathlete: Patricia Bello

Coach Notes: Every year, I pick a cause to raffle an entry to Ultimate Tri Camp (Value of $2497). This year we chose Miami Water Keepers, and Patricia Bello was the winner.

So happy to be able to give back to something so crucial as bringing awareness to our drinking and playing water and helping out a triathlete who wants to improve in every way, which I know that Ultimate Tri Camp can do!

After speaking with Patricia, I knew her confidence had been ‘shaken’ from her cycling accidents, so I assured her that safety is always our number one concern and that she will feel so much more confident with all the skills she will attain at camp.

Happy to say she completely killed it out there and performed above and beyond even what she thought she was capable of.

Thanks for trusting Full Circle Coaching and Ultimate Tri Camp to help you get back out there! So excited to see what’s next for you- Way to go, Girl; let’s get to that 70.3 finish line!!!

Age: 56

Why did you choose Ultimate Tri Camp for help in your triathlon journey?

By luck! Although I have heard great reviews on the camp, I won a raffle to participate. I was recovering from injuries from a bike accident and was considering not riding anymore and taking it easy for a while. But camp participation changed my intentions, and now I have the confidence and am ready to tri again!

Please share your BIG goals and how Ultimate Tri Camp supported you:

My big goal was to feel confident on my bike again and finish what I had started… training for a half-Ironman distance race.

Tell me about your successes so far:

I would say going back to swimming. I used to swim when I was a kid and loved it. I have been swimming since 2021. Participating in a few Sprints last year. Although I was able to do the 3 sports separately, training all of them for a race is something else.

What were some of your biggest Improvements in performance at Ultimate Tri Camp?

Swim: Improving my catch, arm positions at 11-1, pushing off from the wall to improve streamline and body position.

Bike: fear of downhills, changing gears, and using the cassette

Run: I learned that my hands were crossing my midline, which wastes energy in the wrong direction, and that I needed to lean/ fall forward and to practice a faster cadence.

Nutrition/Health: All the information was beneficial. From breath work to yoga, sports-specific stretching, using supplements smartly, and eating clean is essential for better performance.

Mindset: resilience, focus, goal setting

Did you achieve any Personal Records or Goals?

No, but hoping to do so soon.

Name 2 or 3 things you feel will make the biggest difference in your triathlon performance after participating in Ultimate Tri Camp:

  1. Nutrition/health
  2. Strength training
  3. Race and transition tips

What excites you the most about being involved in triathlon?

I love the discipline and training of it. I have found a great community of athletes to enjoy this sport with.

What was your favorite part of Ultimate Tri Camp?

All of it, but meeting fellow triathletes with big goals and lots of experience to share. The lake and wetsuit swim, the speakers, the ice bath, the rides, the pool drills.

What would you say to someone on the fence about attending Ultimate Tri Camp?

Go! this is a great tri camp for adults, and you will get so much out of it.

Are you coming back next year?

I hope so!
